About

bofaa1.jpgSpice’s design approach to any project, is based upon two principles ie: attention to detail, and thorough implementation.

These two principles have been derived from the experience of the two directors, who graduated from Ravensbourne College of Art and Design in 3-Dimensional Design and went their separate ways for a number of years gaining experience across a wide spectrum of design problems and subsequently joining together to combine their diverse talents.

Both directors realise that to establish the right design solution for the client it is not enough just to produce innovative design, but if the designer is to achieve the goals for his client, then the client must be part of the decision mechanism.

This is a continual process from conception through detailed design and project management to handover, while maintaining resources and effort at a professional level throughout the project. The directors background of furniture/industrial design, has been one of the major strengths of the company, where the design and detailing of all interior elements, whether furniture or special lighting, is carried out not only with flair, but with an understanding of materials and the production process.

Further benefits are gained by the directors and associate’s understanding and application of ergonomics, which is demonstrated in the detail design of bespoke furniture whether reception desks, dealing desks or more relevantly in the sphere of communication/satellite control consoles, where the designers are working closely with the computer hardware suppliers and I.T. technicians, to incorporate computer equipment into ‘user friendly’ furniture, maintaining levels of access, cable management, ventilation as well as aesthetic appearance.

This ergonomic experience and methodology has been utilised extensively in major projects in Europe for satellite control room and console installations.
