For the past 15 years, the core activity of Spice Design has been design, planning, project management and installation of consoles and display walls for Telecommunication and Satellite Operators such as Colt Communications, ICO Communications, Inmarsat, Eumetsat, Eutelsat, NewSkies Satellites and Kingston Inmedia.

The Spice team honed their design, planning and management skills by carrying out innumerable Command & Control centres and earth stations for Satellite Operators in the USA and Europe. Spice has a positive track record of working closely with Operations and Engineering Managers to bring projects in on time with minimal pain to the client.

The Spice approach is to structure the initial planning to deliver the client a totally coordinated project.  A typical example of this is a project carried out for New Skies Satellites in The Hague, where Spice Design & CCL, were requested to provide a ‘turnkey’ package to design and build the new satellite and payload control rooms, including the operational flight engineering management and open-plan offices.  Spice and CCL subsequently provided the planning infrastructure for NewSkies Networks Mediaport facility in Washington.

Other services

The team can offer other specialist systems and equipment skills, which include the integration of RF Equipment and building management services into a monitor and control system that will provide the operator with a total overview at the console with remote access by management.

Design & Build

Typically Spice/Colem Eng` are retained to provide design and planning consultancy to deliver a coordinated project. In some circumstances a client has requested a design and build proposal. A typical example of this approach was a project carried out for New Skies Satellites in The Hague, where Spice Design & Colem Engineering, were requested to provide a ‘turnkey’ package to design and build the new satellite and payload control rooms, including the operational flight engineering management and open-plan offices. Spice and Colem Eng` subsequently provided the planning infrastructure and project implementation for NewSkies Networks Mediaport facility in Washington.
