Metropolitan Police Sports & Leisure Club, Imber Court, East Molesey, Surrey

September 30th, 2009 by John Pepper

Spice were commissioned to completely refurbish the existing ground floor and entrance hall.  We provided 3 bars that could be divided up by sliding partitions enabling multi-functional spaces and providing a members’ area.  All could be opened up to create one large facility all serviced by a new kitchen and servery.  It incorporated bespoke carpets and curtains and curved bars in oak and walnut inlays.

The ceilings were of fibrous plaster with through and feature lighting with concealed tracks for the sliding partitions. Cost £450K.

Spice Fusion

September 25th, 2009 by John Pepper

Spice was commissioned by Chand Miah, an award winning chef, to create an Indian restaurant with a difference. From an empty shell and a tired shop front the story began. Set in Biggin Hill amongst some well established Indian restaurants and stiff competition, this had to stand apart from the rest.

Spice Fusion, named by Spice Designer and Managing Director, Rog’ Butler, set about a design that made a huge impact on the High Street with an interior treatment to walls and ceiling combining both colour and form simply using plasterboard layers of varying colour, purple carpet and black gloss floor and wall tiling. Spice designed two features, 6mtr long high back couches, in purple velour with colourful Indian silk scatter cushions giving that sexy luxurious touch that the girls love.

The shop front was replaced with a feature goal post of purple cladding and all glass and steel facade, with white illuminated graphic.Spice Fusion opened in November 2008 at a cost of £150K.

Metropolitan Police, Kent

November 1st, 2006 by John Pepper

Metropolitan Police, KentThe building is a 19th Century Dutch gabled house set in 17 acres of landscaped park, which formally belonged to a diamond merchant. The building committee therefore were obliged to retain the high Victorian standards of interior fitments and appointed Spice to produce design proposals for upgrading and enlarging bar lounges and conservatories containing traditional polished hardwood joinery, bar counters and screens, set against an elegant backdrop of velvet drape curtains with swags and tails, deep pile Wilton carpets and pattern sofas.

To broaden the appeal for Police families, Spice Design initiated a design for a children’s playroom, which is decorated with hand-painted murals and children’s furniture. The investment by the building committee has been seen to be effective with a favourable response from the members and plans for continued upgrade of other bars and a ballroom area is proposed for the future. Metropolitan Police, Surrey

November 1st, 2006 by John Pepper

Metropolitan Police, SurreyA major refurbishment to the ground floor of the Metropolitan Police Sports and Social Facilities, provided a complete change of image and function. The new facility provides 3 No. bars and large restaurant servery for both members and visitors alike. The use of sliding fabric and timber screens enable the ground floor to house five different functions at one time.

The rich to hot colours provide a warm and friendly atmosphere with modern but classic familiarity to both the old and young which now has rekindled the falling membership with the club now experiencing great enthusiasm for all social events organised, with new members and old ones returning. The Reform Club, Manchester

November 1st, 2006 by John Pepper

The Reform Club, ManchesterThe concept was to create an environment which was rich, sexy, seductive, opulent and surreal. It’s not cheap, so you have to feel good. I think we achieved that. Designing sexy bars etc, is one thing, but 7 metres long with 2.4 metres high couches and variations of the same in rich colours - red and mauve, zebra and panther, all living together in a sexy way, within such a beautiful room, begging for occupation.

All specially designed and made by quality people at a realistic price. Another art of the game/role. Everything seating wise is bespoke and tailored to our requirements. Read the rest of this entry »

Ruby Spice, LondonA small takeaway Indian Restaurant with colourful charm, in the back streets of Thornton Heath.
